Tribe Breweries Upgrades Production with KAESER’s Advanced Oil-Free Compressed Air Technology
Tribe Breweries boasts a rich and dynamic history that mirrors the ever-evolving landscape of Australia's independant beer industry. Nestled in the picturesque regional city of Goulburn, New South Wales, Tribe Breweries blossomed from a collective of passionate brewers driven by a unified mission: to craft exceptional beers while embracing diversity and fostering creativity.
In recent years, Tribe Breweries has experienced remarkable growth, spreading its influence far and wide across the Australian beer scene. Firmly establishing itself as a frontrunner in the craft beer arena, the brewery has garnered acclaim for its unwavering dedication to quality, innovation, and sustainability. Throughout its journey, Tribe has continuously pushed the boundaries of brewing, introducing a diverse array of beers that cater to an eclectic range of tastes and preferences.
While Tribe Breweries has earned recognition for its own award-winning brands such as Stockade Brew Co, Morning Peninsula and Wilde, it also collaborates with an extensive network of partners to craft beverages that captivate the palate. Despite being classified as a medium-sized production brewery within the Australian landscape, Tribe stands tall as one of the largest independent brewers.

Environmental responsibility
Environmental stewardship lies at the core of Tribe Breweries' ethos, reflecting the similar sentiments of companies like KAESER Compressors. Both entities are deeply committed to reducing their environmental footprint and championing sustainable practices. From implementing strategies to curb emissions to pursuing B-Corp certification and exploring renewable energy sources like solar power, Tribe Breweries endeavours to set the standard for ecological performance in its field.
In their shared pursuit of sustainability, KAESER Compressors and Tribe Breweries exemplify a mutual understanding of the urgent need to safeguard the planet for future generations. By prioritizing energy efficiency and embracing innovative technologies, KAESER aims to minimize energy consumption in compressed air systems, complementing Tribe’s efforts to conserve water, reduce waste, and promote eco-friendly brewing practices.
Within Tribe Breweries' production process, compressed air plays a vital role in various stages of beer brewing. From aerating the wort to facilitating fermentation, compressed air ensures optimal conditions for yeast growth and fermentation. Moreover, compressed air powers critical machinery such as bottle fillers, canning lines, and kegging equipment, enabling seamless production and packaging processes.
A Partnership between Tribe Breweries and KAESER Compressors.
A partnership begins
In 2018, KAESER Australia installed a comprehensive compressed air system at the Goulburn facility, comprising a CSG 55 compressor, SECTOEC TD61 refrigeration dryer, a 3,000-litre receiver, and KAESER filters. As Tribe Breweries expanded its production capacity, so too did its compressed air requirements. Last year, another CSG 55 compressor, dryer, and filters were seamlessly integrated into the existing system, effortlessly accommodating the brewery's growing needs.
KAESER's state-of-the-art CSG oil-free rotary screw compressors deliver clean air that meets stringent ISO 22000 standards, ensuring the integrity and purity of the brewing process. Engineered with precision and reliability in mind, these compressors deliver unparalleled performance while maintaining exceptional purity in air delivery. The oil-free design ensures that the compressed air remains free from contaminants, making them ideal for applications where air quality is of utmost importance.
Paired with the CSG55 compressor, the SECOTEC refrigeration dryer plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the compressed air supply. Utilising the most modern and greenhouse-friendly refrigerant, R-513A, the SECOTEC dryer efficiently removes moisture from the compressed air stream, preventing corrosion and contamination in downstream equipment. Its compact design and intelligent control system ensure optimal performance while minimising energy consumption, making it a cost-effective solution for air treatment needs.
Compressed Air: A Hero of Tribe Breweries' Brewing and Packaging Success.
Additionally, the KAESER filters, rated to ISO 8573-1 standards, further enhance the purity of the compressed air by removing contaminants such as oil, water, and particulates. With their high filtration efficiency and durable construction, these filters provide reliable protection for sensitive equipment and ensure the consistent delivery of pristine air for sensitive brewing operations, safeguarding the quality and consistency of Tribe’s brews.
When asked about the decision to invest in KAESER Compressors, Tribe Breweries' Asset Care Team Leader, Piers Watson, lauded the reliability and efficiency of the systems, stating, "We were completely satisfied with the first KAESER system, so it made perfect sense to stick with them. The second system seamlessly integrated with the existing setup, expanding our compressed air capacity to meet our growing demands. The obvious benefits were there, so we didn’t have to think too hard about it. The decision made itself, really!"
