Energy-saving SECOTEC refrigeration dryers, 45 - 98 m³/min

SECOTEC TG: The compact powerhouse

With the new TG series, KAESER extends its range of energy-saving SECOTEC refrigeration dryers to accommodate flow rates up to 98 m³/min and offers models with a choice of air- or water-cooling.

Designed for large-scale industry, these compact powerhouses ensure stable pressure dew point performance even under the toughest of operating conditions - with maximum reliability and minimal life cycle costs.
The high-performance thermal mass concept and standard, network-capable SIGMA CONTROL SMART controller guarantee long-lasting, energy-saving operation in all load phases. The innovative exhaust air control, fitted on air-cooled variants, sets new standards for operational reliability and cost efficiency.

Your advantages

  • Improved operational reliability:
In combination with a high-efficiency radial fan, the innovative exhaust air control in SECOTEC TG refrigeration dryers ensures optimal system cooling. This not only opens up new savings opportunities when it comes to planning and installation, but also significantly contributes to efficient and material-friendly operation of large refrigeration dryers.
  • Future-proof investment:
With the climate-friendly R-513A refrigerant, KAESER offers the best solution currently available to assure future supply dependability. This effectively prevents high repair costs and the threat of shutdowns.
  • Reduce operating costs even further:
The high-performance thermal mass concept with SECOPACK LS and perfectly matched multiple compressors, SECOTEC TG refrigeration dryers boast exceptionally efficient partial load control for flow rates up to 98 m³/min within an impressively compact unit that requires minimal maintenance.
The perfect partner: the AQUAMAT oil/water separator

Energy saving potential of KAESER dryers

Energy-saving dryers from Kaeser only consume energy when they're actually drying compressed air. Thanks to the Kaeser energy-saving system, electrical power consumption rises and falls in proportion to the air flow volume when operating in the partial-load range.

Sample statement of savings: TI 521 – with an assumed average volume of 40 %

Annual energy savings: $5,513/year
TI 521 power consumption: 2.6 kW
Power consumption of comparable dryer with hot gas bypass control: 6.2 kW x 93 % = 5.8 kW
(5.8 kW - 2.6 kW) x 8760 h/year x $0.20 /kWh

Environmental CO2 reduction: 16.5 t CO2/year
165 t CO2 / 10 years (1000 kWh power = 0.6 t CO2 in emissions)

R-513A: A future-proof refrigerant
R-513A

The use of small volumes of the future-proof R-513A refrigerant provides security of supply for maintenance work throughout the entire life of the refrigeration dryer.

Innovation:

  • The use of greenhouse gases is becoming ever more strictly regulated throughout the world. Installation of highly compact heat exchangers - such as SECOPACK LS and microchannel condensers - considerably reduces refrigerant demand.
  • The greenhouse gas potential of R-513A is significantly lower compared to the refrigerants that have commonly been used in refrigeration dryers up until now.
  • R-513A is equivalent to R-134a. It is neither toxic nor flammable.

Material-friendly operation, stable pressure dew point and high energy-efficiency in all load phases.

Optimisation:

  • The SECOTEC TG series combines the SECOPACK LS heat exchanger system with latent thermal storage and up to three refrigerant compressors arranged in parallel. These are switched continuously, according to the load level.
  • This relieves the load on the thermal mass, allowing it to be made even more compact.
  • The high-performance thermal mass allows efficient, infinitely variable adjustment to cooling performance during partial load operation.
  • Material-friendly operation thanks to the limited switching frequency of the refrigerant compressors.
  • The standard SIGMA CONTROL SMART controller determines the actual electrical power consumption.
Minimal servicing costs

Minimal costs for maintenance, inspection and documentation.

Innovation:

  • Unlike typical axial fans, radial fans are designed to last for the unit’s entire service life.
  • The condensate separator in the SECOPACK LS operates without the use of filter elements. It is just a matter of replacing the service unit in the standard ECO-DRAIN condensate drain.
  • No other parts are required when it comes to maintenance.
  • R-513A refrigerant: Low fill volumes and low greenhouse gas potential allow cost-effective compliance with national operator regulations. So with the SECOTEC TG, there is no need to perform leak tests or to provide the accompanying time-consuming documentation required by the European F-gas regulations (EU 517/2014). However, it is still recommended to have the unit inspected once per year by a certified expert.
Optimal drying with low-wear operation

SECOTEC refrigeration dryers efficiently maintain pressure dew points of up to +3°C during full load operation. Thanks to their narrow fluctuation range, pressure dew points are also more stable during partial load operation than is the case with conventional refrigeration dryers.

Conventional refrigeration dryers with switching operating modes, but without an additional thermal mass, use the heat exchanger material itself as a thermal mass. In these dryers it is therefore necessary to switch the refrigerant compressors and fan motors on and off much more frequently, in order to maintain the required cooling performance.

To reduce switching frequency and wear, the refrigerant circuit therefore only switches on at much higher pressure dew points. The resulting fluctuations in the pressure dew point negatively affect drying performance. This can be risky, since corrosion can take hold even with relative compressed air humidity of 40 % – corrosion can therefore occur even without condensate formation.

SECOTEC refrigeration dryers, on the other hand, ensure long-life operation thanks to their high thermal mass storage capacity. Once the thermal mass has been charged, the refrigerant compressor and fan motor can remain switched off for much longer without impacting pressure dew point stability.

Compact dimensions

Efficient thermal storage control up to 98 m³/min on a footprint of just 1.7 m². This allows a space-saving installation and a high degree of flexibility when it comes to planning.

Innovation:

  • The SECOTEC TG’s small size is made possible by the compact thermal mass storage concept.
  • The SECOTEC TG measures just 1025 x 1620 x 2130 mm.
  • The rear side can be placed right against the wall (clearance of 200 mm required).
